Sometimes the monsters you know are worst than the ones you don’t.
This is true for Daisy. Having the sight and being able to see “others” have made her life very hard, especially with a family that don’t believe in her and her ability. A planned night out to meet up with her friends turns into a nightmare when her family tags along and complain of her plans. Daisy just wants to get to her friends to get away from her handsy step-brother, her stern step-father, and a mother who refuses to see how Daisy is being treated.
Umar and Khalid are ghouls who are masters of the small domain given to them. They are just bidding their time until they can usher the humans out of their domain and go about their nightly, ghoulish business. They don’t expect to meet Daisy or the pull she has on both of them. They see her interest but also the fears she has. Fate has given them a chance and they will not let this second chance pass them by.
VT Bonds changed things up a little with this one but this change is good. I love how protective Umar and Khalid were towards Daisy and how badass Daisy became in the end. This was a really good addition to this series.
